Name That Song! ("Hyakko" Edition)

I'm trying to figure out the artist and title of the nice piano piece that plays at 1:42 to 2:14, and it's driving me nuts! Anyone know what it is? I hope it's a part of the soundtrack.

After playing Samorost 1 and 2 over and over again, it's quite obvious that Machinarium is another creative product of Amanita Design. It is going to be awesome.

A third season of "Minami-ke"?! And I thought the shitty trend of the past two anime seasons was going to continue! Kana, you are BOSS.

Earlier this evening, I purchased this "Gurren Lagann, Volume 1" two-disc DVD set from a local Best Buy. I was quite giddy up until the moment I removed the sticker label that held the case shut. I carefully cut the sticker to avoid damaging the case and plastic cover, only to find a...SURPRISE! As you can surmise from the photograph on the right, this product is a two-disc set. That means it comes with two discs. It turns out one of the employees at a Bandai Entertainment manufacturing facility did not possess the level of mathematics of a preschooler. Much to my disgust, the product in the following photograph is what I ended up paying for.

Semi-Monthly Catch-Up

Make yourself a 5-minute microwaved chocolate cupcake (literally) when your craving for one can't wait the hours of baking.

One of this nation's most iconic natural structures is no more. The Wall Arch in Utah's Arches National Park collapsed sometime last week.

I finished reading the "Watchmen" graphic novels recently, and I can't wait until the film is released next year!

MADHOUSE ("Black Lagoon," "Death Note," "Dennou Coil," "Paranoia Agent," etc.) is animating the remake of "Casshern" from the 1970s. "Casshern Sins" will air in October of this year.

While I was watching the Olympics several days ago, it brought back memories of "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." (1994). The opening theme should sound familiar.

The possibility that the Large Hadron Collider could one day create a black hole on this very planet gives me the shivers. The following video clip doesn't help.

This Japanese DVD helps men keep their focus above a woman's plunging neckline through staring practice.

Mikuru Beam! For approximately $70 you can pre-order a 1/7 scale goth-punk (what?) Mikuru figure. Or you can wait until the new Revoltech Yoko is released! It's just a coincidence that both happen to be well-endowed redheads...

If you haven't heard yet, The Dark Knight...
  • broke the record for midnight screenings, beating out Star Wars, Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith's $16.9 million by $1.6 million;
  • broke Spider-Man 3's opening day record of $59.8 million by $6.6 million;
  • broke Spider-Man 3's opening day record of $4.7 million for IMAX screenings by $1.5 million; and,
  • broke Spider-Man 3's opening weekend record of $151.1 million by $4.2 million.
That is a lot of moolah. Not only that, this is IMDb's Top 250, as of several hours ago...

I wonder how many more people are going to vote 1's to restore The Godfather back to #1.

Does anyone want to venture a guess as to how bad this film is going to be? (If you couldn't figure out what this is by the spiky hair, glowing ball, and orange gi, it's a Japanese film poster for the live-action Dragonball that will be released next year, starring Justin Chatwin, Emmy Rossum, James Marsters, and Yun-Fat Chow.)

The End of PiQ and Dissidia Footage

"PiQ," the successor to "NewType USA," has shut down after four issues. This is what happens when you stop a magazine with a large following for another. It's a shame, though, because I was just beginning to enjoy "PiQ."

I noticed that the PiQ staffer who posted on the official site about the magazine's closing took down the post, recently.

The last fighting game I recall that had "Final Fantasy" characters was Ehrgeiz from 1998. A decade is a long time, and Square Enix's latest fighter, Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP), is long overdue.

Watch the trailer for all kinds of awesome! (Too bad I don't own a PSP!)
